Certificate II in Dramatic Arts (Acting)

Course Description: A comprehensive foundation course designed to lead to employment at an elementary level in various aspects of theatre, film, television & radio. May also provide solid base for further studies.

Major Studies: Acting (technique, impro, monologues, scene study); movement; voice; singing; makeup; fighting.

Entry Requirements: Interview.

Course Duration: 15 weeks.

Articulation: Articulates to Certificate IV in Dramatic Arts.

Entry Requirements: Successful completion of Certificate II or advanced study at another tertiary institution.

Course Duration: 18 months.

Mode of Study: Full-time (day). 3 days per week.

Accreditation: VETAB (NSW).

Career Outcomes: Opportunities for professional employment as actors or performers in theatre productions, feature films, TV commercials, video clips, corporate videos; radio, voice overs.

Course Fees: $5,385. Instalment plan available.

Other: On the job training is encouraged especially with student film makers and directors (unless it significantly interferes with studies).

Diploma of Music

Institution: Australian Guild of Music Education Inc - Faculty of Music

Course Description: A 3 year full-time or six year part-time course in music. Approved applicants can take the first year of the program as a Certificate IV in Music. Ten modules of study required. This course ideally suits the student seeking a professional career in music.... performance, teaching, educational technology or computer music. Majors are available within the modules offered. The course(s) are a proven distance education program that allows students to learn within their own environment at times suitable to them. Post graduate studies are also available.

Major Studies: Performance; History of Music; Theory of Music; Computer Music; Midi-Synthesiser; Arranging & Composition; Improvisation; Educational Technology; A wide range of electives are available. Certificate of Music candidates have a smaller selection.

Entry Requirements: AGMS Grade 7, Year 12 Music, Mature Age or Audition.

Course Duration: March 1st to November 30th each year.

Mode of Study: Full-time, Part-time, Flexible Delivery as this is a distance education program.

Accreditation: State Training Board of Victoria, VETAB (NSW), VETEC (Qld), National Register.

Articulation: Conversion is now available to a University three year degree program.  After two years of the Diploma course the student can convert to the third year of a degree.

Career Outcomes: A professional Diploma of Music is issued in a major module of study: Qualifications ideally suited to private practice, professional performance and as an itinerant music teacher, Also suitable for employment in the music industry.

Other: Post-graduate study available.

Course Fees: $3,600 annual fee payable in four payments of $900. Three years or six years part-time. Part-time fees $1,800 annually (updated July 2000).
